Numeracle has secured a $28M growth investment led by Edison Partners to scale verified business identity across every channel where businesses and consumers interact. The investment was announced on October 28, 2026. Read the full press release here.

Our VP of Marketing, Molly Weis, sat down with Founder and CEO, Rebekah Johnson, to discuss what the investment changes for the future of the company, and why identity, not communications, is the real battleground where fraud wins or loses.

‍

Key Takeaways

  • The Investment: Numeracle secured a $28M growth investment led by Edison Partners  ‍
  • The Track Record: Over eight years, Numeracle has verified and protected the identities of 4,000+ enterprise brands, and growing ‍
  • The Expansion: The funding extends verified business identity from voice into messaging, rich communications, and emerging digital channels ‍
  • The Problem: Fraud and impersonation are identity problems, and don’t stop at single channels or borders ‍
  • The Solution: Numeracle’s identity-based frameworks can be used by any organization to determine whether a business is real and legitimate before it gains access to a platform

‍

Question: Let's start with the obvious question. What will Numeracle do with its $28M investment?

Answer: The $28M investment lets us build the identity layer for every business interaction, not just voice.

We’ve spent eight years verifying and protecting the identities of more than 4,000 enterprise brands, from Fortune 500 companies to local, independent businesses. We started in voice, because that’s where honest businesses were getting hurt first.

But fraud doesn’t stop at a phone number, and neither do we. This funding lets us scale what we’ve already proven into every channel our customers use.

And none of this happens without our customers and partners. They trusted us with their brands and their businesses, and that’s not something I take lightly. They’re the reason we reached this milestone, and this investment lets us serve them even better as we grow.

‍

Question: Why did Numeracle choose Edison Partners, and why raise now?

Answer: Edison Partners backs growth-stage companies with real, regulated demand behind them, and that's exactly where Numeracle sits.

Trust between businesses and the people they’re trying to reach keeps eroding as AI fraud scales faster than ever, and that’s hurting legitimate companies’ ability to connect with their customers. This capital lets us help more of them, faster: giving more businesses the verified identity they need to be trusted again.

‍

Question: You talk a lot about identity instead of communications. Why does that distinction matter to you? Why is fraud an identity problem, not a communications problem?

Answer: Fraud and impersonation are not fundamentally communications problems; they are identity problems. That’s the conviction this company is built on.

For years, this industry has focused on the phone number instead of who’s behind it. You can authenticate a number and still have no idea who’s actually calling. That gap is where fraud lives, and AI just made that gap easier to exploit.

‍

Question: What does this mean for consumers who aren’t thinking about identity infrastructure all day? What does verified identity mean for them?

Answer: Verified business identity means the call from your hospital, your kid's school, or an airline doesn't get swept up in the same system built to catch fraud. Right now, it often does.

In our own research, 69% of U.S. consumers told us they've missed, ignored, or declined a call because they couldn't trust the caller ID. That's not a fraud problem, that's a trust problem.

It happens because there's no verified identity behind that interaction confirming the business calling you is exactly who it claims to be. That's the outcome we are building towards in every channel, not just voice.

‍

Question: Beyond the business case, why does this work matter to you personally?

Answer: This life chose me. I look at it as a calling more than a job.

As long as people rely on communications, we have to know who’s on the other end and why they’re reaching out. Every legitimate business deserves to be recognized for who it is, and every person deserves to know who’s really calling before they trust it.

‍

Question: What comes next for Numeracle after the $28M raise?

Answer: With Edison's backing, we're extending the identity verification we've proven in the market into messaging, rich communications, and emerging digital channels. We're not stopping at voice.

Our newest offering, Know Your Customer as a Service (KYCaaS), is built for what AI has made possible: fake businesses that look real. Before a business ever gains access to a platform or technology, KYCaaS confirms it’s a real, legal business actually doing what it claims, not just one that exists on paper. It’s pass or fail. We stop fake businesses before they get in, not after the harm is done.

Fraud has also gotten too sophisticated for the patchwork of point solutions most compliance teams have stitched together on their own. KYCaaS brings that data and that analysis into one place, so the people making approval decisions spend their time approving, not chasing down and interpreting data from multiple different tools.

‍

Question: How will FCC rules change the landscape of verified business identity?

Answer: FCC rules are moving in exactly the direction Numeracle has been building toward. The FCC is actively pursuing several open rulemakings, including Know Your Upstream Provider (KYUP) that would tighten identity and vetting requirements for carriers.

That's not happening in a vacuum. Regulation is catching up to where the fraud and the technology already are. The future isn't more anonymous communication. It's verified identity, everywhere a business shows up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a business prove it’s legitimate when AI makes impersonation so easy?

A business can prove it’s legitimate by establishing verified identity: independent confirmation that it is real and operating as it claims, tied to the channels it uses to reach people. AI now makes it easy to copy a brand’s name, voice, or logo, so looking legitimate is no longer enough. Numeracle verifies the business behind the interaction through Entity Identity Management™, so carriers, platforms, and consumers can tell the real business from an impersonator.

How do I verify my business identity with Numeracle?

To verify your business identity with Numeracle, contact the Numeracle team to start the verification process for your brand and phone numbers. Enterprises can begin with a free number audit to see how their calls are labeled today. Platforms and service providers that need to vet the businesses they onboard can use KYCaaS.

What is the difference between call authentication and verified business identity?

Call authentication confirms that a call came from a number the caller is authorized to use. Verified business identity confirms who the business behind that number actually is. Frameworks like STIR/SHAKEN authenticate the number but do not tell a consumer which business is calling or whether it is legitimate. Verified identity closes that gap, and that gap is where impersonation fraud lives.
