FCC's Robocall and Spoofing Portal

Report Suspected Spoofing Events to the FCC Enforcement Bureau

Industry News

Is someone spoofing your numbers? The FCC launched a new portal in which private entities can report suspected robocall and spoofing violations to the FCC Enforcement Bureau.

Private Entity Robocall and Spoofing Portal

The purpose of this portal is for private entities to submit information about suspected robocall (47 U.S.C. § 227(b)) and spoofing violations (47 U.S.C. § 227(e)) to the Enforcement Bureau. Section 227(b) of the Communications Act and section 64.1200(a) of the FCC’s rules prohibit making autodialed or prerecorded voice message calls to certain numbers without valid consent or an emergency purpose. Section 227(e) of the Communications Act and 64.1604 of the FCC’s rules prohibit transmitting inaccurate or misleading caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.

A private entity is any entity other than (1) an individual natural person or (2) a public entity. Uses of this form might include a corporation or association experiencing a deluge of robocalls overwhelming their internal phone network, voice service providers that found evidence of illegal robocalls traversing their networks, or private entities that have had their number(s) spoofed.

Once you submit this form, you will receive an acknowledgment and we may reach out to you for further information. The Enforcement Bureau will protect the filing of non-public information that you submit using this form. Consistent with these protections, the Enforcement Bureau may share any information you submit with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, other federal agencies combatting robocalls, state attorney general offices, other law enforcement entities with which the Commission has information sharing agreements, and the registered traceback consortium. These sharing agreements include specific provisions about the safe-guarding and disclosure of non-public information.
